This is an expert course for individuals who manage the performance of an IBM POWER5 processor-based system running the AIX 5L V5.3 operating system. This includes AIX technical support individuals, system administrators, systems engineers, and performance analysis individuals.

Objetivos:
• Describe the effect of the new IBM system p5 and AIX 5L V5.3 features on performance and monitoring, such as Simultaneous Multi-Threading (SMT), Micro-Partitioning, and virtualization features;
• Interpret the outputs of the new and enhanced AIX 5L V5.3 performance monitoring and tuning tools to view the impact of SMT, Micro-Partitioning, and virtualization; the tools include vmstat, iostat, sar, topas, mpstat, lparstat, smtctl;
• List various sources of information and support for AIX 5L performance tools, system sizing, system tuning, and AIX 5L V5.3 enhancements and new features;
• Automate dynamic logical partition operations with the Partition Load Manager (PLM);
